Art & Law
Focus on Art & Law
Clancco aims to distinguish itself from other art practices, artistic and legal institutions and organizations, websites, and blogs by focusing on a rigorous study of the effects of law on cultural production and reception. The effects of law on artistic and visual production are further highlighted by the direct relationship between socio-economic and juridical discourses.
Clancco is specifically interested in the impact of intellectual property law, property law, and the first amendment on the production of visual culture. In using the term visual culture, CLANCCO includes a wide range of practices, including but not limited to urban planning, sculpture, film, architecture, writing, and other forms of static and non-static artistic productions.
To the right you will see a list consisting of blog postings all dealing with art and law. Some postings are brief, while others take a more nuanced and detailed position. We hope that this archive will assist our readers and educational institutions in understanding the ongoing dialogue between the discourses and practices of art and law.
Lastly, we will be providing a bi-weekly newsletter to keep our readers abreast of these issues, as well as our artistic projects. If you would like to e-subscribe, please do so below.
Thank you for viewing our site. Come back soon!
