About Us

Clandestine Construction Company International (Clancco), a corporation founded in 1968 and based out of New York, is an interdisciplinary project which explores, investigates, and examines the relationship between art and law through architectural-sculptures, performances, writings, interviews, and an internet website/blog, all made available in different material and digital formats.

Clancco’s project is unique because it operates as a corporation, enabling Clancco to have multiple, diverse, and yet co-existing practices (subsidiaries) across the United States and abroad.

Clancco works on inter-material and inter-conceptual projects which are either self-initiated or commissioned, and which increasingly bridge diverse discourses such as architecture, sculpture, drawing, and writing. In order to disseminate its projects to a wider audience, Clancco also engages in the practice of visual culture, law, and pedagogy, researched and discussed via lectures, writings and symposiums.

Additionally, a unique feature which facilitates Clancco’s projects and distinguishes us from other organizations, websites, blogs, or institutions, is Clancco’s in-house legal department, which focuses primarily on elucidating the effects of property law, first amendment law, and intellectual property law on cultural production and reception. The interrelation between art, law, and visual culture is made available via writings, short news updates, and interviews on our Summary Judgment and Radio Red ☼ Black Ink pages.
